  1. Note: my apologies for diminishing the tragedies, that are occurring in the Middle East for Thais and everyone else, this article was too stupid to pass uncommented. JMHO. The UN secretary-general has expressed his condolences over the loss of Thai lives in Israel, Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin said on Wednesday, as the Israeli government confirmed the death of another Thai, raising fatalities to 30. (Coss Comment: Someone important say nice thing about Thai ) The Israeli government confirmed the death to the Thai embassy in Tel Aviv on Wednesday, although it was not clear when the latest victim had died. (Coss Comment: which day is very important.) The number of injured remained unchanged at 16 while 18 are presumed to have been taken hostage by Hamas. Srettha was speaking to reporters in Beijing on Wednesday morning. He met UN Secretary-General António Guterres on the sidelines of the 3rd Belt and Road Initiative forum. Srettha said he had told the UN chief that despite Thailand not being a party to the conflicts over Palestine, it had suffered the second highest death toll after the US. (Coss Comment: Thailand has the goal of becoming the hub for death tolls and will soon lead the world. TAT predicts 200 million by 2027) Srettha said the UN secretary-general was shocked by the loss of Thai lives and expressed his condolences. (Coss Comment: Shocked by the overall tragedy of the war more likely, not singling out Thai deaths) Srettha said the UN chief told him that he would travel to Egypt and visit the area near the Gaza Strip to pressure for an end to the war as soon as possible. On the repatriation of Thai workers from Israel, Srettha said the government could repatriate about 400 Thais per day and would soon be able to increase the capacity to 600 a day. (Coss Comment: soon...) The prime minister added that the Thai government was not complacent about the safety of the remaining Thai workers in Israel. (Coss Comment: haven't we got a Lèse-majesté law for this? who said complacent? Have him arrested) He said Foreign Minister Parnpree Bahiddha-Nukara was in the process of seeking permission for the use of ports of Middle East nations to repatriate Thais by sea. Srettha said the US has repatriated its 1,500 to 2,000 citizens by boat to Cyprus but the Israeli ports have been closed. (Coss Comment: someone else is doing a much better job but as you can see it's not our fault the ports have been closed...) The prime minister added that many Thais were still unable to leave the risky zones in Israel and dozens of Thais could not reach the airport in time for their flights although they had registered with the Thai embassy for repatriation. (Coss Comment: it's really hard...) He said the Supreme Commander of the Thai Armed Forces had been trying to coordinate with the Israel Defence Forces, seeking help to evacuate Thais from risky zones as soon as possible. (Coss Comment: Supreme, Ultimate, Highest, Top, Principal, Supereminent, Bigger and Higher than any one else... asking for help...) Srrettha also urged the remaining Thais to decide as soon as possible whether they want to continue working in Israel at their own risk or return to Thailand. (Coss Comment: Stay if you want...) “The risk is on you. The government has a duty to repatriate people fast and safe after you make a decision to return home,” Srettha said. (Coss Comment: Up to you...) https://www.nationthailand.com/thailand/general/40032008

  5. Fascinating, still have to get the electricity from somewhere though. But using the house's construction as a battery is a great idea. Not much fun for a cell phone, brings a new dimension to calling your phone a 'brick'.

  7. Donna, STFU if you know what's good for you... Trump ‘does not have the right to say and do exactly what he pleases,’ Judge Chutkan says, issuing gag order A federal judge on Monday issued a gag order on former President Donald Trump, limiting what he can say about special counsel Jack Smith’s federal prosecution into his alleged attempt to subvert in the 2020 presidential election. The order restricts Trump’s ability to publicly target court personnel, potential witnesses, or the special counsel and his staff. The order did not impose restrictions on disparaging comments about Washington, DC, – where the jury will take place – or certain comments about the Justice Department at large, both of which the government requested. “This is not about whether I like the language Mr. Trump uses,” Judge Tanya Chutkan said. “This is about language that presents a danger to the administration of justice.” “His presidential candidacy does not give him carte blanche to vilify public servants who are simply doing their jobs,” the judge added... https://edition.cnn.com/2023/10/16/politics/trump-gag-order-chutkan-hearing/index.html ...do you think Donna has a gag reflex? 10. 555. Further, for additional pedant amusee´ the article describes the "liquid cement" being in the act of filling up the vehicle. vis: "was found submerged in the Ladnam Chiao Canal, with liquid cement filling up the vehicle."
  11. A cement truck plunged into a canal after its driver ignored warnings and drove onto a wooden bridge, causing it to collapse. The 55 year old driver, from Amnat Charoen, revealed that he thought the bridge was supported by concrete pillars, and thus decided to cross it. The incident occurred at 12.30pm today. The 10-wheel truck, registered in Samut Prakan, was found submerged in the Ladnam Chiao Canal, with liquid cement filling up the vehicle. The wooden bridge, located near the scene, was destroyed... https://thethaiger.com/hot-news/road-deaths/cement-truck-ignores-warning-and-crashes-into-canal-after-wooden-bridge-collapse ...14 small frogs and 6 carp were found, to have not been crushed by the truck falling into in the Ladnam Chiao Canal, prompting a wave of lottery ticket purchases in the area...

Torres Strait Islanders I was once approached by a couple of lasses in a bar in Auckland, one Blonde and one 1st people Strayan, the non blonde said," If you can tell me where I'm from, I'll buy you a drink, if not, you buy us a drink". I looked at her for a while and said "Torres Strait Islands". They both dropped their Jaws on the floor. I had hoped for a further conversation and an evening spent with the lasses, as they were both quite attractive, but my accurate guess, had them nervous and they eventually ran away. The reason I'd known, was that I had, in my childhood watched numerous wild life doccos from a husband and wife team of Australian film makers, Ron and Valerie Taylor, who specialised in Australian sea life, Saltwater Crocodiles, Dugongs, Sharks and Turtles and such. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ron_Taylor_(diver) A lot of their work was up the Torres Strait way and the people were often in the films. So I recognised their look.

    BLAM!

Because he had a sense of humour? Not yet born, but I imagine that, as a whole, a measureless number of people, looking for a home, is a problem that most would not relish, dealing with. I've never been anti-semitic, quite the opposite, the rather fetching Shona, of my youth, had a family that would not allow me, near her, on account of me being a gentile. So I became miffed, but not anti. I have always felt, that the Israelis have usually over-played the card in their hand, that is the, "see look at how many of us the Nazi's killed". Kong's suggestion, New Mexico USA, gets my vote, a quick televised second-coming from the King of the Sky Fairies, would establish the religious bona fides of say, Roswell: Roswell is in Chaves County and has a population of 48,186. There are many positive features. The public schools are ranked as above average, there are plenty of job opportunities, the community is diverse, and there are plenty of leisure activities for people to enjoy in the area. The new settlers could carve off a small slice, for the extant population to live in, and we're back to normal. It also has the advantage of U.S. military bases, not too distant, for support.
  15. From the China guy I know "Gull petrol has stepped into China market, has opened some gas stations and their recent online marketing campaign is to pump one liter gas, and pour it into a transparent measuring bottle of one liter in front of all the audiences on premises or online. The purpose is to show that one litre gas from Gull is equal to 1,000ml, not 800ml. Petrol China and other authorities have strongly expressed that one litre of gas is equal to 800ml. Many car owners have experienced the reading on the gauge has gone beyond their tank capacity. I find this funny, don`t know about you" Not sure if China is actually shorting their consumers by 200ml a litre, but I'm interested to hear of anyone's experiences...

I've a cousin - Lawyer - whose career, has been representing 1st peoples in Aus. I was surprised to learn that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples were only granted Australian citizenship in 1948 and voting rights federally in 1962, and in 1965. Given that white fellas could vote in one form or other since the mid 19th century and the Constitution was made in 1901, it's a small wonder that Ockers have a reputation for racism. https://www.aec.gov.au/About_AEC/25/theme1-voting-history.htm On the Voice vote, people should embrace change, when I was a teen, having a department of Women's affairs in NZ was thought highly unnecessary - by the males. Hasn't been so bad...
  17. and ... “To the extent Trump used a classified document to go after a critic, could suggest he saw value in the documents beyond just keeping them or showing them off to burnish his ego,” Blake wrote. “Whether other evidence points in this direction, we don’t yet know. But Smith’s team has clearly shown an interest in whether Trump used the documents for his personal advantage,” he added. “In April it subpoenaed information about the dealings of Trump’s businesses with foreign countries, for instance, apparently in search of a possible financial motive.
  18. Yes, some more word salad, is below: --- Trump went further at a campaign event in West Palm Beach, Florida. “When I see sometimes the intelligence, you talk about the intelligence, or you talk about some of the things that went wrong over the last week, they’ve got to straighten it out because they’re fighting potentially a very big force,” Trump said Wednesday. Regarding Hezbollah, which the US and its allies have warned against escalating the current conflict, Trump said, “They’re vicious, and they’re smart. And, boy, are they vicious, because nobody’s ever seen the kind of sight that we’ve seen.” ... Coss comment: "What we need is more Trump" ... Cav?
  19. The latest from Donna - 555 Former President Donald Trump has been insinuating for weeks that former President Barack Obama is secretly still in control of the White House. On Monday in New Hampshire, he explicitly said it. “It’s never been worse than it is now under crooked Joe Biden and, frankly, his boss, Barack Hussein Obama,” Trump told a crowd of hundreds at a campaign stop. “I think it’s his boss.” https://www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddow-show/maddowblog/trump-keeps-adding-list-weird-obama-conspiracy-theories-rcna119881
