  1. Cupla TV series:

    Dark Winds
    Zahn McClarnon stars.  6 episodes 2022, 6 more 2023.
Navajo police officers in the 1970s Southwest.

Good this, not stunning but worth a binge or perhaps 2.

    Far North
I am perhaps biased, as it's a local (NZ) 6 part series, set not far from where I have family.
Based on a true story - no spoilers - watch the end credits of episode 6 to see how true.
Also backed up by local gossip from my family and news reports, over the last few years that correspond to the events in the series.

Briefly: Comedy, crime drama and bizarre, as in a bunch of f*ck-knuckles do drug trafficking...

I think well written and very Kiwi

  2. Me, I'm the proud possessor of a wry smile..

The event you refer to is 1 of 7 closely related matters in New York - 6 more to be dealt with.

It was a summary judgement - meaning no trial was needed, the evidence was enough for the judge to make the finding.

There is an order to revoke/cancel or otherwise discontinue the Business Operating Certificates of the New York Trump Org companies. "Oops!" Said the Orange Man to the mirror.

A Trump Lawyer was sanctioned $6,500 ish, the Judicial equivalent of shooting your Baseball Pitcher in the buttock with a Spear Gun.

    for a good read

    an excerpt:

“Donald Trump is no longer in business,” David Cay Johnston, author of the Trump-themed book The Big Cheat, wrote in DC Report.

“Barring a highly unlikely reversal by an appeals court, Trump’s business assets eventually will be liquidated since he cannot operate them without a business license. The various properties are likely to be sold at fire sale prices and certainly not for top dollar when liquidation begins, probably after all appeals are exhausted.

“I give Trump’s chances of prevailing on appeal at somewhere between zero and nothing except perhaps on some minor procedural point, which you can be sure Trump will describe as complete vindication.”

Joyce Vance, a retired US attorney and University of Alabama law school professor, called Engoron’s ruling “justice”.

“This is New York’s corporate death penalty, applied to Trump because of years of misconduct,” she wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

A temple in Nonthaburi province has agreed to delay its plan to pull down dead Yang trees (Dipterocarpus alatus) in its compound, after 12 Alexandrine parakeets were found nesting there.

Phra Mahacheep Suthiyano, abbot of Madua Temple, said that they wanted to cut the trees down because they had died more than ten years ago and the branches occasionally fall down, causing damage to property.

The temple, however, agreed to the conservation of the parakeets, which are breeding in the hollows in the trees, he said...

  4. Anchorage 2023

This movie struck a chord with me.

Its unusual, in that it is shot, almost entirely on two characters, with any others, having a very fleeting screen appearance.

Don't write it off as  "a couple tattooed freaks do a road trip".  No spoilers.

Stick with it, well worth it in my opinion. Should get gongs.

I have yet to find a photo, of how I remember the Thermae in the '90s

It doesn't do it justice, but there's there this one:

I was asking MPIH what the Z stood for in “Lazer”, hence the reason I quoted the word “Lazer” not the meaning behind the militarist symbol Z.

... the military seize power. They ban modern art, popular music, avant-garde novelists, modern mathematics, classic and modern philosophers and the use of the term "Ζ" (Greek: zíta, or Greek: zi, which is used by protesters against the former government), which refers to the deputy and means "He lives."

  7. Sounds like me.

After months and months of observation, I'm now using SkyScanner with alerts to let me know what's available and will book with the appropriate airline direct when I decide on dates.

And vis the wife and living arrangements, sounds like you're doing what MLG and I intend to do.

She likes NZ, I like Laos, so we'll be back and forth cupla times a year, hopefully with the airfares staying at ~1,000 NZD  AKL-BKK.

I can’t get health insurance in Laos because of preexisting conditions (ex-stroke, cancer and Afib, 63)

So - treatment in NZ, holiday for months in Laos, rinse and repeat, side trips to Cambodia, Burma, Thailand, Vietnam, Australia, etc as the airfares allow.

I’ve settled down, calmed down as well I suppose…I left for awhile as I needed a break from 1-2 guys who annoyed me with their constant crap and what were, basically, outright lies and misrepresentations…blocked some and some left…

As for the younger crowd, they know it all and do what they want…show off, throw money around and have basically ruined a lot of the scene… Same bunch that screwed up Thailand are now screwing up Cambodia and eventually I suppose the PI as well… You could actually see it with some of the guys who used to post here, all the arguments about sending money and supporting bar girls, tipping, over tipping etc…with some, there was/is no respect for the established game, standard rates and practices etc…everybody just wanted to play by their own rules…that never really works well in the long run…

We enjoyed your posts and I for one, am looking forward to more,  even non monger, daily observations, as befit,  gentlemen of our outlook :)
