On Friday morning the border crossing to Laos at Nong Khai was closed to Foreigners (both ways), and Thais exiting Thailand. By the afternoon, Foreigners (me) were allowed into Thailand and out again today (Sunday). There's a significant Army presence checking faces and passports of everyone exiting Thailand. But friendly fellows, the soldiers were. Got stopped four times in 10 minutes by police trying to shake me down for money though. 200 bht no seatbelt.
