  1. Prominent artists have demanded Trump's campaign stop using their tunes on social media or at rallies — with lawsuits involved in some cases.

The White Stripes' lead singer Jack White threatened to sue Trump's team Thursday for posting a video of the GOP presidential nominee boarding a plane to the song "Seven Nation Army."

"Don't even think about my music you fascists," White wrote on Instagram. "Law suit coming from my lawyers about this (to add to your 5 thousand others.).".

    One of many sources

I can’t find it, but heard Jack White say if he was successful in suing Trump any monies awarded would go to the Harris campaign funds,

  2. But that is not “Cashless” you wanted to transfer CASH from one country to another, withdraw from an ATM and spend CASH.

Your bank fucking up a transfer has absolutely nothing to do with cashless payments, it just means your bank are useless.
My main bank is in another country and I do all my banking online, in over 20 years never once has a transfer taken more than 48 hours to clear in Thailand from the time of me initiating transfer.

So I have probably executed over 200 transfers without a hitch over the years and you have had 1 bad experience which is <0.5% failure

Blame you r useless bank in Auckland not cashless society

For me, I am less worried about them knowing the money I have,  but more worried that they'll use any reason they see fit to deny me my money.

I will ask you again, how does cashless society make it more likely for them to deny you access to your money?

Pre-cashless days, to deny access to you r monies they would only need to cs cel your ATM card on a Personal level or shut down the network for countrywide. Nowadays not only block your ATM as before but also yours Credit Card(s), Debit Card(s), Apple Pay etc.

I put to you that with Cashless there are more payment methods and it is more difficult to deny access to your funds and not easier as you are screaming from beneath your tinfoil hat,

As a side note, Thailand is “Cashless” in one aspect, Food Courts, most food courts you buy tickets / tokens and purchase food using such instead of cash

When banks engage in the practice of sharing information with one another, it creates a situation where individuals can be more easily targeted, whether justifiably or not.

You do know that when you use ATM at  Bank A for you cash which is in Bank B that the banks are sharing information

  5. Again what does this crackdown in Thailand have to do with “Cashless Society” Unless all of you transactions are in cash, you need an account to receive money and to withdraw cash from.

Suspicious activities relate to loong Somchai who has been getting say 20,000 THB per month deposits and all of a sudden he is receiving 200,000 per month. If one has a bank account this activity can be observed even without a cashless society so it’s difficult to understand the point you are trying to make.

I pay for almost everything by electronic transaction - but I like the option of being able to pay by cash.

And that is, I assume, how most people feel, and how it should be. Thailand though is still a cash centric society, over 80% of transactions are done in cash, I haven’t been out of Asia since 2013 now so I don’t know how cashless the west has gone.

One point though Coss, the ATM machine swallowing your card had nothing to do with cashless society, unless you walk around its a perpetual pocket of cash you will always be reliant on electronics to access your money. In my Passport holder / Travel wallet I always have USD 1,000 and GBP 1,000 and my “Get out of Jail Free” card is an approx 75 grams gold necklace I bought in a Benghazi  Gold Souk in ‘91 when working in Libya, never wear it, stashed in the travel wallet. Gold is accepted anywhere

  7. That’s what I was saying, Coss was worried about “Big Brother” interfering with Cash Free payments and I replied they could more easily shut down the ATM networks so you wouldn’t have access to cash

Unless one works cash in hand, which is very rare nowadays,  Big Brother could interfere with your purchasing power, either directly by blocking contactless payments or indirectly by shutting down ATM network. External control of your purchasing power / access to money is not a new phenomenon related to the higher occurrence of contactless payments, authorities have had the power to shut down ATM networks for decades

Maybe Coss should check out This Website

  8. They could turn the ATM off so for the majority who don’t get paid in cash they already have control over access to money.

I used to be a Luddite like yourself, but it is so much easier with RFID for cards or NFC for using your iPhone, once you get used to it you will be fine, but some have trouble keeping track of payments. At least with cash if you withdraw $500 from ATM you can see what you are spending

When ATM first introduced many people didn’t trust those “god damned new fangled machines”  that they could talk to, and may give them the wrong money

Honestly it would be easier to shut down ATM network and stop withdrawals that to block all methods of contactless payment, and your fears are unfounded just like your previous fears of Smart TV’s

  9. AFAIK people of our age should be relatively protected since (hopefully) our mothers had us immunized against smallpox as children, it’s those born late 70’s onwards who may not have been vaccinated since I am sure they stopped in 1980, for the UK anyway
