Guest
as far as I understand and hopefully someone can say I am wrong. The answer is no, foreigners cannot own houses or buildings. I believe there are leasing options available though. SB.
Guest
Hi You're right about the 30 year Leasehold agreements. Going through a number of real estate sites, they claim you can own outright. Lots of misinformation and information out there. Hell I've even gotten different answers from the Thais in charge. So anyone owning? How did you do it?
Guest
it maybe worthwhile having a few guys on the board co-fund a few meetings with a PWC type firm and get the facts.... I would certainly be interested in doing something like this as I maybe buying something this year..... SB.
Guest
as far as I understand it the answer is yes. There's a book available in Asia books called "Doing Business in Thailand" and it has a section about land and building ownership for private individuals also. JAYBLOOM
After reading the Soi 10 post in the Nightlife section, all I can say is be real careful before buying something.
SoiledCowboy
Do not confuse a local incident involving "hotheads" on Soi 10 with your entitlements under Real Estate laws and Thai company laws that effect both Thai citizens anf farang alike - without sounding like a stuck record - use an experienced and reputable real-estate lawyer for you purchase and you will be dead for 100 years before a problem might arise. Try this link for more info to start with...... http://www.ethailand.com/article/default2.asp?tree=112 http://www.realestatethailand.com/ http://www.asiatradingonline.com/properties.htm there are a shit-load more info sites out there as well.......... Guest
the problem with the internet sites is knowing whether they are accurate or not. Having said that, thanks for the links ...... SB,
New Petchburi Pete
I believe a foeigner can own a house or a building. However, that is not the case with the land the house/building is on. Some recommend securing a 30 year, renewable lease of the land before purchase or construction of a house.
