Last week, I used it in Malaysia with the HotLink Smartcard to call Tokyo and had no problem. I think you would be better off buying last year's mobile phone model since it would be cheaper!!!! But, my ego got in the way...as I just purchased a phone on E-Bay...and opted for an new Ericsson T68i...as had been suggested earlier on this thread... for almost $200/ 8,000-Bt. Realistically I'll probably neither need nor learn how to use all of the phone features...and hopefully won't have too many beers and leave it in some bar!
