shotover
I'm coming to Bkk this weekend, and one of my favorite non-bar activities is seeing movies, preferably with a goose-bumped Isaan princess snuggling up to me trying to stay warm. :: What are the hot and recommended movies now showing in Bkk? shotover
Thanks KS and WYD for the web links. 'Chicago' - I don't think so. Too many women killing men for butterflying. 'Lhob Phee Phee Mai Lhob' - No idea what it's about as I don't read Thai, but looks like it could be interesting. 'The Quiet American' - I hope it's still playing at the Lido next week! A must movie to take my GFE to. 'Iron Ladies 2' - I missed the first one, but will try to catch this one. English subtitles? 'About Schmidt' - This one would confuse the Thais. "Maid in Manhatten' - Thai girls will go for this one. 'Gangs of New York' - Thais love any movie with Leo in it.
itsmedave
Okay, lowdown on films for you. Chicago: Great movie that confused and finally annoyed the hell out of my Thai girlfriend. "So the songs are all in her head...that's stupid" Gangs of New York: Great movie who's violence alienated my Thai girlfriend. "I feel sick" About Schmidt: Great Movie! My girlfriend; "boring" Adaptation: GREAT movie. Doubt I'll take the girlfriend as this would also confuse her. My idea of the best bet would be to go to one of the new movies opening this weekend. "The Core" and "Tears of the Sun" should both provide the uncomplicated action which Thai's so love. I know I'll be there.
shotover
Nice summary Dave. I saw "Tears of the Sun" in the US and liked it. 4 hours till my plane leaves.
Guest
A little of topic: The movie "city of ghosts" (Matt Dillon in Cambodia) is to be released in the US on 25. April. What time can one expect it to be in theaters in Los? I'm really looking forward to this movie.
markle
I'd forgotten about that movie. Depends on how popular it is in the US. but given the current local dissapproval of all things Cambodian it wouldn't bet on it.
bangkokbutcher
I must be unlucky or something coz whenever I fancy seeing a film, they always seem to be playing exactly the same as what I watched on the flight over. So I always end up renting or buying a DVD/VCD or something. ::
