gawguy
Even though I was pretty firmly told that "arai" is a question word only, I still hear it in contexts where it seems to be in a statement. Last night I heard someone say: "Mai dai thamarai" Which I would guess means, "I didn't do it." "Arai gawdai" - what does this mean? I thought it meant "whatever" and when I have tried to use it like that I have received big smiles. Thanks
samak
mai dai tham arai: do not do anything or can not do anything arai gawdai: what ever or depending on the context: anything goes, what so ever, anything is ok
Pharcyde
"Mai dai thamarai" means " didnt do it", or "didnt do anything". The "dai" shows that we are talking about a past event. "Arai gawdai": I concur with samak.

Guest
"Mai dai thamarai", or "not doing anything" is an answer to the question "what are you doing?", or "thamarai yoo" "Arai gawdai", or "anything is fine with me", is again the answer to a question. namely "Pai thammarai dee", or "what shall we do".
