Fidel
I know many of you guys are interested in Thai history and politics and some of you have posted here requesting book recommendations. Well, in my search for an online version of George Orwell's 'Burmese Days' I stumbled upon a real gem. I found an on-line version of a book called: Thailand: A country Study. This book has it all, the history of Thailand from early history to 1987. History, coups, kings, imports, exports, religion, ethnicity, military spending and training, crops and land uses....... this book is excellent. Read it here! From the same source: Laos: A Country Study Cambodia: A Country Study and Vietnam: A Country Study These are excellent books.

haltest
A nice intro to thai history, but lacking in substance! I can recommend Thailand, A short history by David Wyatt Also for those interested in the Ayuthayya period, there is a translation of the royal chronicles which has just been published!
