Girls wages in the bars

Thanks Nepfan.

My question was ambiguous.Sorry. I took a dek serve out of a bar for one week on my last trip so I've done the tasting bit! lol.I was really asking to try to work out if I overpaid on the barfine. Looks like I did! I paid 3500baht for one week = 15,000baht for a month. So looks like I overpaid.(unless it's cheaper by the month!!) I was just interested to see whether a better deal good be obtained by dealing with the bar owner or girl. Looks like I should deal with the owner. Much cheaper.

Cheers Hall

Do any of the go go bars actually require waitresses (dek-serves) to get a certain amount of "offs" (barfines) per month. ritic's post suggests this is the case while Nepfan suggests otherwise.

I also always thought it was otherwise, but now I am not so sure. I am particularly curious because my best and worst experiences have been with dek-serves.

On the one hand, with a few dek-serves, I had to woo them over a period of time, and when we finally went out it was more like being with a girlfriend (good and bad) than, well, a regular dancer. It was as though there was a real relationship there, and part of that was based on my (perhaps naive) assumption that I was with a girl who did not regularly go with customers.

On the other hand, with a other dek serves, they promised all when I was in the bar, but once bar-fined, they got very reserved. One practically bolted from the moment we left the bar. I felt as though I had been taken. If they are required to have a certain number of bar fines a night, but really do not want to go with customers, this could explain why they got so reserved after we left the bar. They feel compelled to get a bar fine to protect their salary, but really do not want to go with the customer. If this is true - its bad for the girl and bad for the customer. This could actually lead to some rather ugly situations.

OK, having provided this background, can someone provide me with a straight answer. If the answer varies from bar-to-bar, and specifics can be provided, I would love to know what the situation is in different NEP bars.

Each required Barfine results in 1 less 500B deduction. if a dek serve achieves zero offs a month then she gets 1500, she gets 1 off she gets 2000B, 5 off's 4000B 6 offs 4100B
