Caught by the Yakuza in Tokyo.....I think!!

I have just spent two very enjoyable weeks in Japan doing some research on the place as a possible location to move to next year.

One of the things I like about the place is, surprise surprise the uniforms on the high school girls. There are so many and they are such a feature of the society in books, magazines, videos, DVD's etc that I never really though twice about filming them in the street...............until a week ago.

I have filmed them many times before and usually when they see the camera and catch you they put their fingers up in the Japanese peace sign way and smile. Many of them even say thank you in Japanese after I put down the camera.

So last week I was sitting on a wall outside the Kabukicho exit from Shinjuku station filming the girls streaming out of the station exit at about five pm, zooming in and out on their legs and short skirts and really enjoying being a pervert when suddenly I felt a strong hand on my shoulder and a voice saying "STOP" in English. I got such a shock that I nearly dropped the camera. I turned around and saw a young smartly dressed Japanese guy who made it pretty obvious that he wanted me to stop filming. I put away my camera and stood up asking "who was he" and "why" but he did not speak English. as I tried to walk away he grabbed my backpack and pulled it roughly and so I turned and pulled his arm off and tried to walk away again, but he grabbed me again and this time said "Go Police". At this point I started to get a little scared, here I was in a big notorious nightlife area of Tokyo with a problem, and no one in the world knew I was there. Visions of all sorts of things happening to me raced through my mind and I quickly decided I had to get away from this guy.

Tried to move away from him a third time and again he grabbed my pack pointing at it saying "Police" so, talking quite loudly in English saying "I do not know what you want", "I do not know what is wrong" and trying to break his grip on my bag I eventually managed to get further than an arms length away from him and, as a big crowd was now gathering watching this Jap and Gaijin fighting in Tokyo I walked quickly away and disappeard into the huge crowd.

It was only the following night while drinking with Gaijin friends in an Irish Bar recounting my story that it was suggested that this guy was probably a very low ranking Yakuza who did not like me filming the girls, I may have even innocently filmed some of the girls working for him or his boss or hostess bar or something. Who is to know, but it sure scared the shit out of me and I won't be doing any more filming in that area again.........had I gone to the police what would have happened,? again I don't know and my friends who live there including UAL875 from this board suggested that I did the right thing and got away quickly.

One thing for sure is that had I realised while it was happening that he might have been Yakuza I would have been much more scared than I was and things might have turned out differently. As it is I still have my tape and everytime I watch it I will remember the night I was caught by the Yakuza in Tokyo...................

Doubt very much he was a gangster UG as they don't usually call on the cops to solve their problems. Sounds more like a vigilante.

Count yourself lucky the cops didn't come as your two week vacation could have been extended for three months in the slammer.

I agree with your assessment. Due to enormous public pressure the Tokyo metropolitan government decided beginning of June that plainclothes policemen will patrol the notorious nightlife districts of Tokyo. Although their patrols are mainly to catch illegal foreign girls who work in the nightlife scene they could of course have a look for other 'problems'. I also doubt that this was a 'yakuza'. Uniformguy wouldn't have had any chance to escape so easily.

Hi,

For what? Taking pictures in a public area???

I'm in Hawaii, and a friend called me to tell me that yesterday, a Japanese film crew were walking through a crowded market where he worked, and a Japanese film crew was shooting a video of a girl shopping, and whenever she bent over, had no panties on.

An obvious Japanese porno being shot here. What's the deal? OK in US, but not in Japan?

More like taking pictures in a pubic area. :grinyes:

It appears that the "yak" thought UG was taking some indecent shots of the girls. If so, the official charge would be "causing a public nuisance."

Plenty of porn shot here HT.

A few months back some bird was standing out the front of my crowded station filming up her short skirt while talking to the nearby "producer" on her mobile phone. Maybe they filmed the sequel in Hawaii?

While the Japanese are some of the kinkiest bastards on earth (have you ever seen any of their porn vids? "Imaginative", to say the least!) I get the feeling that they don't necessarily like foreigners being kinky with "their" women. Am I correct, guys who live there?

Well, one can't help but care when you're manhandled by a Japanese vigilante in the street (as the original poster apparently was) because he had kinky intentions with Japanese women. Could be dangerous.

Sorry PI, I was talking about Japanese women in general who know the foreigner.

In UG's case, you're talking unknown schoolgirls on the street, in Kabukicho of all places.

OK, so you were standing in a crowded place (I'm quite familiar with Shinjuku station, incidentally), filming HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS suggestively.

What would you think if you came upon somone doing the same to some of your local high schoolers in the streets of your home city?
