jp1
Has anyone of you been married to a farang lady when you arrived for your new posting in Thailand? How long did it take you to find out that the marriage to your farang lady was the wrong choice, meaning how long did your marriage last after arriving in Thailand? Or do you know about colleagues who broke up with their foreign wives/girl friends? Here in Japan there are many expats who are coming to this country the first time with their wives (of course mostly farang, or gaijin-as they say in Japan). A considerable number of these expats discover soon that Japan has more to offer than Sushi and Sashimi. A great number of those marriages break up because the guys are finding greener pastures in the land of the rising sun. Anybody with a story? Wife finds fancying Asian man/men a worthwhile occupation?
ThaiHome
Wasn't posted to Thailand at first, but was sent to another SEA country. She went back after a year, I stayed. That was 4 years and 5 assignments ago. TH
jp1
does the opposite happen too? Wife finds fancying Asian man/men a worthwhile occupation? Very unlikely. If it happens (happened) these are rare exceptions.
ptyrider
Not as unlikely as you might think. My TGF has friends in an upscale housing village where lots of expats live. Her friends tell her that while the husbands are at work, a significant percentage of the farang wives have their Thai boyfriends over. They often give them money, too. What's good for the gander is good for the goose? Remember that old Joe Tex song (I think) that goes something like Who's makin' love to yo' ol' lady While you was out makin' love?
