BelgianBoy
Says LaoHuLi: Never under estimate the madness of speed. Guys, I for one do believe it..... been there... done that You need a good bike, good roads, traffic on your road or not is less important, you drive so quickly, they never see you coming, so no need to take that into account.... I have done it all and I'm still alive to tell the tale...... Just 1 example : Antwerp to Milan through the Alps is 960 km, done that in 5 hours sharp. We were 4 bikes in total and did that at night, its all good motorway...... On top of that, we were overtaking by a Ferrari Many more examples, most are private, as broken the law way too many times..... Cheers !
spirit_of_town_hall
I think the accident was down to youth. Unfortuately up to 28 or so most men think they are immortal. STH
limbo
Driving in Thailand scares the shit out of me although I do it on a daily basis on my bike. There's a substantial amount of people that i know personally that were badly injured or even died, let alone the stories I hear about people I don't know personally. I know that I'm a good driver, but that doesn't count for much here. I'ld be surprised if here in Samui 50% of all drivers have a drivers licence. I too rent bikes when in south of LOS, but hell, I took 3 times before taking action, and do it carefully, especially with the GF behind me on the bike Cheers ! Fatbastard
I agree BKK to CM is 4.5 hours = superman. But generally 180 to 220 KPH is a reasonable cruising speed on many main roads. THing is you need frequent rest periods/ Fuel stops which drops the average speed on along trip. Have done many trips to CM and usually takes around 6 to 7 hours. Pescator
Hi BB, Well, that was in Europe on a super highway I take it? I just wonder how you would feel about going 200 K/H on the road from bkk to CM and most likely at night too? The only way to beat the traffic jams. I recall seing plenty of vehicles at night without any lights whatsoever on this road. At 200K/H I sincerely doubt that you would be able to avoid them. One is all it takes. they never see you coming, so no need to take that into account.... That is not the way I see it. They never see you coming and attempt to overtake a slower moving vehicle just when you are passing by and......you are part of the statistic Cheers Hua Nguu
BelgianBoy
Hua, Well...... hmmmmmm........ I cheated a bit........ it was in the 70s, so more space, less traffic, it was at night, and it was a superbike I borrowed from Honda as I was one of their drivers I did speed competition with the juniors........ Would I do it again today ? nope I do agree I would feel less at ease in LOS Cheers !
Fatbastard
Depends what I have available at the time but for longer distances the Kawasaki ZZR 1200 is hard to beat as its fairly comfortable for an old codger like myself.
