One thing. If you have a corporate or insurance company retirement fund from which to draw, sometimes right at retirement time you have the option of choosing how you want the funds dispersed. BEFORE you decide and sign on the dotted line -- I'd advise consulting a professional.

Ideally one formulates a retirement plan several years before retirement. I'm gonna take a WAG (wild-assed guess) and say you haven't met with a pro yet. It's a good idea to do it no matter what. There may be SEVERAL things to consider that haven't been brought up yet. The only thing to watch out for is if they want you to buy into investments (generating commission for them). There are many good comission-based ppl out there, but still beware. You can also avoid this by hiring a FEE-based ONLY Advisor.

You may want to also read a few books on retirement. You may come across a few things you haven't thought about. Congratulations on your upcoming retirement. Enjoy!
