Guest
Man so much easier getting credit cards here in America!!! This is from: guinnessworldrecords.com Largest Credit Card Collection: Walter Cavanagh (b 1943) of Santa Clara, California, USA has 1,397 individual valid credit cards. The cost of the cards? acquisition to "Mr. Plastic Fantastic" was nil, but their total credit worth is more than $1.65 million.

whosyourdaddy
Was talking to a friend of mine who works at citibank over the weekend. She was saying that the Thai banks- ayuttahaya etc are getting easier for farangs to get a card. Amex was quite easy to get. I have heard they are quite difficult to cancel though

Guest
Have a mastercard from HSBC and a visa from Standard Chartered..... both issued within 10 days of application. The HSBC card was obtained by d/loading the application form from the website and sending 6 months of bank statements, leeter from employer, 3 months pay slips and copies of passport and work permit - everything done by post. Standard Chartered was pretty much the same except I applied in person at their branch at the Mall Bangkapi. Both cards together offer 200,000 baht in credit. Not the same story when I had previously applied to Krung Thai - the bank that receives my salary! It took them 3 months and a dozen phone calls from me for them to say no!
