Minuman
Thai embassy is on Jl. Ampang. No personal recommendations but check this out, it lists a good few options in that area.
Prosal
By calling them directly, the Sheraton Imperial can be booked for 250 RM/50 ?, which is a bargain as it's even better than the Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit. From Minuman's link, it's close from the Thai embassy.
Minuman
Kuala Lumpur truly seems like the Shangri-La for the self-paying luxury-hotel afficinados. Need to allow myself a few days in the city en-route to Jakarta come summertime...

Minuman
As I read it they are not looking to stay on Jl. Bukit Bintang, but near the Thai embassy on Jl. Ampang to the west of KLCC Suria/Petronas towers. Novotel Century used to be nice but it's called something else nowadays.
Nervous_Dog
Not sure of that area, better to stay on Buket Bintang where walking around is good fun, for everyone, and then taxi over maybe? Novatel did have some sort of name change, Emerald is cheap too. DOG

Yet it has fabulous amenities, an irreproachable service, the stunniest swimming pool in town, and is still a extraordinary bargain compared to the Bangkok 's Four Seasons.
