HSTEACH
Frog... Being turned down for a visitor's visa will not affect the K-1. The K-1 is in a completely different category. The major question of a K-1 is whether YOU can support her. The major question of the B2 is whether she will return to Thailand. Once you have signed the affidavid of support, which is one of the major components of the K-1, you are responsible for her welfare for 10 years, even if she leaves you in the US and strikes out on her own. You are responsible for any financial obligations she incurs in that 10 years. Good luck on the K-1!
frogpatrol
Cheers High School Teacher (?), Thanks a bundle for your info. So, there is some light at the end of a stormy day.... Although my original plan of bringing her to the States for 3 weeks to get a feel for the country and celebrate Christmas is now gone, at least the K1 option is viable. Cheers, froggo

Question: I know that green card holders who are over the age of 65 are qualified for Social Security/Medicare. Does that violate the Affidavit of Support? Grabii
Frog, Your girlfriend wasn't turned down for her B2 visa for security reasons. She was turned down because she didn't convince the counsular officer that she would return to Thailand. Regards, JEff quote: Originally posted by frogpatrol: Couldn't agree more, Ted.
