Dogs must be muzzled: BMA

Published on Sep 23, 2004

From today, dog-owners will be required to keep their dogs muzzled and on a leash in public places or face a fine of Bt5,000, deputy city governor Pensri Pichaisanit said yesterday.

A source said the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration opposed calls to jail owners of dogs that attack people and preferred preventive measures.

Under the new BMA directive, owners of dogs that require special control must use a leash of not longer than 50 centimetres. The person holding the leash must be over 15 years old and under 65.

BMA Health Office deputy director Anchalee Patamasawan said that under the new directive, dog-owners must register their animals with the BMA and pay for all necessary vaccinations. ?Each dog will be implanted with a microchip, identifying the owner in the event of an attack,? she said.

Seems that old dogs can no loner have a dog!

In all fairness I had to fight off a dog while waiting for a boat at the end of the Sky Train line.....Tossed the mutt into the river. That water will kill even a dog!
