Jesus, here we go again. We are going to get ten more threads from dudes asking how they can find these supposed college girls turning part time tricks so as to afford sports cars and precious jewelry.

If there were lots of hot, intelligent, upper class, university girls available to farang tourists, the girls' whereabouts ALREADY would be well touted on this board, and I already would have buggered the daylights out of every last one of these "fast lane" bookworms, as pay back for lost time from my university (conservative) days.

This article conveys a highly inflated impression of the "scene," and, readers' inferences of its accessibility to farang sex tourists would be even more absurd. Please resist crazy.gif" border="0

ps--Ozbod, I have no qualms with your posting of the info (and I enjoyed reading it), I just think it may mislead people. smile.gif" border="0

Interesting point TT:

I reckon if you had a look at a typical bargirl budget you would find three expense categories:

1. Necessities (lodging, food, clothing, transportation, etc.)

2. Money Sent Home (children, other family members)

3. Pissed Away Money (Thai boyfriend, booze, drugs, gambling, jewelry, cell phone, designer clothing, etc.)

* Yes, I do make a distinction between family and Thai boyfriend/husband.

** Savings? Sometimes, but rarely.

Now, the big question:

How would you allocate these three categories for MOST bargirls in Thailand?

Based on my experience, I would say:

Necessities: 25%

Money Sent Home: 50% (especially if kids)

Money Pissed Away: 25%

Obviously, all this would depend on the particular bargirl, age, job, location, etc. and it is hard to stereotype, isn't it?

Also, I think there may be a trend indicating an increase in category 3 - but, which of the other two categories would be decreased to cover?

That doesn't sound right. Patpong high earner in the 30-50kbpm (that's an ISO approved unit of 'thousand baht per month') sending home 15-25k? Nah. 2-3k. Maybe 5k.

Even her poor little sister plying the trade in Pattaya beer bar, making 10-20kbpm, is hardly sending home 25% of her income.

When you hang out with a beer-bar girl for a week or two you see how much goes home. Not that much. For chrissake, we're talking Isaan. 10kbpm would feed a small village.

girls who really work it here, take home over $100 000 US per year, and that is just hostesses. They make more than most customers who go to the bars

gotta be careful though, some customers spend a lot of coin on the girls with presents, trips, etc and then expect something back which the girls may not be willing to give. this has in the past, tragic consequences

Obviously every girl is different but in my experience, the girls seem to send somewhere between 3000 - 10000 baht a month home to family. Where the rest of it goes it a mystery as for many of them, apart from a mobile phone and perhaps a few baht of gold, there never seems to be too much left over.

Has anyone ever stopped to figure that many more girls go on to secondary school nowadays than 20 or more years ago? Thus the number of girls becoming prostitutes may not actually have increased. Simply the percentage of those who are still students has. Just a thought ...
