She got her head shaved and ears pierced as soon as she arrived. Daughters cousin is 9 month older and they shaved her head the same time. So I have absolutely no Idea if it has to be done at a certain age. But it's done. I liked it as my daugthers haircut matched mine at that time. And it worked, she's 3 and a half now and her dark silk hair reaches down to her ass. Unfortunately that trick never worked with my hair. I guess I tried it too late. This actually happened to a friend of mine, some weird Indian tradition, first time she goes to india she is 18! (Born UK) The tradition is she has to sit on Grandma's lap and get fed some special food! Well - they did it! Very funny as it's a "Baby" radition!
