Guest Posted December 8, 2004 Report Share Posted December 8, 2004 Samak is correct........ one huge hotel tower and one huge condo tower under the Regent Brand opening in 2007. It will completely dwarf the poor old Ambassador. There is now a big colour photo of the project in the sales office that is on the site. The beer garden and all the small businesses are gone forever but most have relocated to other areas like Soi 8 and 10. By the way KD don't you ever read the board as this has already been discussed in a previuos thread.???? Also that huge old empty goliath of a building on the right hand side as u look at the Ambassador from Suk is now going to be a massive condo block called Trendy. That is going to take one hell of a lot of renovation to make that place habitable. I predict condo prices crashing in the middle sector next year. The large hotel complex will be on the site of current Soi 13 beer bars, and the equally large condo complex will sit between the Ambassador Hotel and Sukhumvit Road. Personally, I would rather see some more 1,000-1,500 baht rate hotel rooms opening up. This is all shades of the last bubble.. By 2006 there may be another giant ghost building or two... Of course this is all part of the big push to "upgrade" Sukhumvit.
