Please advice - trouble in Hong Kong????

A Thai girl (Nana area freelancer) i have known for about 4 years - friend, not serious relationship - have been freelancing in HK Wan Chai for a couple of month until her visa ran out in march. Recently in Bangkok She asked me if I would like to take her to HK. She didn't expect to be admitted on her own again because she had been there two times already within the last 6 months. I said yes because I've never been to HK before and she would be a wonderfull guide. All I had to do was to buy a ticket that could be changed - so she could stay in HK and take up her freelancing career after my return to BKK after a three day visit scheduled to end the 14. may.

At the immigration they looked at her previous HK stamps and asked me (not her) how long she (not I) would stay this time and what was our relationship etc etc. Surely the immigrations officer must have realised she is a working girl. Anyway he gave her a 30 day visa and 90 for me.

So now we are here in HK. But i'm worried sick.

On the 14th I will return to BKK without her. That's whats worrying me. Will they give me any shit at the HK immigrations about her not returning with me back?? What should I say if they ask?

<<What should I say if they ask? >>

In Australia they made a note in my mates passport that he was traveling with his thai girl. Concerned him too!

I'd just say, burstig into tears, that she left you and your heart broken,. They can;t enforce you to take her back?

That they gave her a 30 day visa indicates they have suspicions about what she was planning to do there.

If you went through immigration together, they would likely record your details with hers in the immigration computer. If you told them that you were travelling together (and returning together), it will look unusual if you don't return to Thailand together. This is unlikely to be a problem unless they actually were to do a raid on the place she was working and she then was caughtt working illegally or she overstays your visa. It is difficult to say with any certainity as it will all depend on exactly what you said to the immigration officer.

A factor in your favour is that you are staying in Hong Kong for 3 days, most people who act as escorts for the girl they are travelling with are in and out of the country within 24 hours. You can always tell them you had a falling out with the girl.

I'd be a bit more careful next time.

"But i'm worried sick."

I'd also be worried if I was you, this situation could easily turn really ugly ......

If after you're gone, she overstays and if she's caught as a third world pro with no legit visa, they could link her name to your name and there are international laws to define you as a criminal. The main is "kidnapping for purposes of sexual exploitation" and can apply to any person who "aids" a woman to leave a third world country and turn tricks abroad.

In this case, Interpol is automatically called in to interview her as its a case of international pimping/traficking. If the girl's a bitch, and to justify her overstay, she'll claim that evil Moo_Uan tricked her into working the streets of Hong Kong and stole her passport. Five days later, there's a big red tag alongside your name on the Interpol's asian computers. And what do you think will happen next time you'll go through Thai customs ?

You serious Prosal? Interpols asian computors!? linked to thai immigration? :: I would be surprised at that. Any such system would have cleared out Pattaya's scum very quickly.I wish there was such a system. ::

I doubt this: AFAIK 30 days is the standard for Thai nationals entering HK (small correction: they did not give her any form of visa, they allowed her to enter for 30 days with no visa).

Do not think you will have any problem.

Hong Kong immigration are always suspicious about Thai girls visiting, and will often give them a hard time ( I know I used to have a Thai girl visiting me frequently in Hong Kong).

Where they stamped the passport see if they hand wrote the letters SCL. Not sure what is stands for but thats what they put in the passport when they think that the girl is travelling to Hong Kong tooo frequently with no real reason to be there. If she gets SCL in the passport then they may not allow her into Hong Kong and send her back next time.

If she does not have SCL then they may give her a hard time but if she can talk a good game they will let her in again.

As to being linked in the computer you would think that with todays technology that they could do that.

But from my experience they have no idea at all.

When my ex used to visit, they would often take her into they immigration back office and then call me to make sure that she did have someone she was visiting, I had to give them my residents id card number. Now this happened a few times a year and whenever they called me I would ask them " do you not have my name and ID card already in the computer I always guarantee for her" and the answer was always no.

Sometimes if I entered Hong Kong with her they would fill out a form with my ID on it and they still never had a record of me in the computer.

Standard number of days given to a Thai without a visa is 30 days.

Do not worry about it you will not be asked anything when you leave without her.
