A former Perth policeman has been charged with child sex offences in Thailand.

Christopher Ronald White, 47, was arrested at his home in Bangkok after a joint operation by Thai and Australian police.

The authorities say they seized pornographic DVDs and illegal weapons during the arrest.

Police say the inquiry began when a 16-year-old girl came forward to claim White had sexually and physically abused her.

The girl told police she had been living with the Australian since meeting him three years ago.

White has denied all the charges.

The Australian Federal Police (AFP) is helping Thai authorities with their investigations.

The AFP raided homes in Perth yesterday, seizing a range of allegedly prohibited imported items.

An AFP spokeswoman says the items are yet to be analysed.

... I'm back in Aus at the moment. Anything on this in Thai media?

CRIME / ABUSE OF 13-YEAR-OLD GIRL

BKK POST

An Australian man claiming to be a former policeman in western Australia has been charged with the sexual abuse and rape of a 13-year-old girl in Chiang Mai.

Police arrested Christopher Ronald White, 47, in the Makkasan area of Bangkok on Tuesday.

Police said Mr White told the girl who sold flowers at Chiang Mai's Night Bazaar that he would help her and support her studies in Bangkok.

The girl was kept in a house in Chiang Mai and was allegedly sexually abused and raped for three years before she escaped and told police.

Police said Mr White claimed to be a former police officer in Australia. Here, he claimed he worked as a private detective adviser and bomb trainer.

Compliments to the Red Queen*:

"No, no," said the Queen: "The sentence first -- the verdict afterwards."

Not a statement about child porn. Rather, addresses some inconsistencies in the stories, such as:

The girl was kept in a house in Chiang Mai and was allegedly sexually abused and raped for three years before she escaped and told police.

vs.

The girl told police she had been living with the Australian since meeting him three years ago.

And, my God- porn CD's and "illegal" weapons? Perhaps the morality investigators have missed some of those Thai street-side shops selling... porn CD's and "illegal" weapons.

And what were the "allegedly prohibited" items seized in Aus? Buddha heads? Illegal fruit? Pirated DVDs?

*through Charles Dodegson. Interesting that he, too, had vapors of child-sex wafting about him.

As usual, The Nation is more informative:

Aussie held for ?rape?

August 25, 2005

An Australian man has been arrested for the alleged repeated rape of a Thai girl under his care over a span of four years from when she was 12 years old, police said yesterday.

Christopher Ronald White, 46, was arrested late on Tuesday night at his Bangkok home, after Australian police intercepted a postal delivery to his home in Perth on August 3. They found a number of VCDs containing images of Western men having sex with an Asian girl who appeared to be aged under 18, Pol Lt General Phanuphong Singhara, the head investigator, alleged yesterday.

The officer said Thai police had obtained the VCDs and would decide whether the girl in them was the unidentified girl, now aged 16, who told police in Chiang Mai - where her family is based ? that White also forced her to have sex with his adult friends on several occasions.

The girl reportedly fled to Chiang Mai two months after escaping captivity in Bangkok.

At White?s home in the Makkasan area, police said they found another 35 VCDs containing similar images, shortly before Western Australian police raided his Perth home and found child-pornographic material and illegal firearms.

Phanuphong said police theorised that other girls had also fallen prey to White.

Meanwhile, police have arrested two German nationals in Pattaya who are wanted in their homeland on separate sex-abuse and fraud charges, Deutsche Press Agentur reported.

Acting on information provided by German Interpol, police arrested Thomas Sassen, 42, and Klaus Falk Schiffer, 63, at separate hotels in Pattaya on Tuesday, said acting Immigration Police Commissioner Major General Suwat Kamlongsrisakul.

I also noticed the discrepancies between the two papers and the influence it has when one reads their stories...

I always hate to jump the gun and convict him just based on a few words and opinions but will say i just never understand guys who get off on taking videos and pictures of illegal activities..

It is always a huge red flag for me when guys tell me they video or take abundance of pictures around sex/sexy shots whatever...

I think a combo of just stupidity and some serious mental/insecuity iissues on the table when guys need to record their sexual activites be it legal or illegal...

There "may" be another side to the story?? White reckons the porno disks were just ones bought at Pantip Plaza (for investigative purposes?), not ones of him and the young girl.

Also, (he says) he's been stitched up because of some undercover work he was doing in exposing a Thai woman with powerful connections who ripped off an Aussie casino for several $m.

Putting a 13 yr old Thai girl through school sounds incredibly philanthropic to me!

.... no doubt all will be revealed... or not!

WA cop refutes Thailand sex charges

29aug05

THE former West Australian policeman in custody in Thailand on child sex charges has protested his innocence, and has said there is no physical evidence to back up the accusations.

Christopher Ronald White, 46, is being held in a jail in the northern Thai city of Chiang Mai after being arrested over allegations he kept a 13-year-old girl as a sex slave for three years.

A two-pronged investigation by the Thai police and the Australian Federal Police (AFP) uncovered claims White had persuaded the girl's parents to let her stay with him after promising to educate her.

He then allegedly used her as a sex slave and made pornographic videos featuring them and other girls, which were sent to Australia.

The AFP and Australian Customs are also conducting their own inquiries, after pedophilic DVD recordings mailed to Australia were intercepted en route to Perth.

In an interview with Perth's Sunday Times newspaper White, a private investigator, said he has attempted to protect the girl at the centre of the allegations, and claimed his teenaged accuser had got pregnant by someone else.

"Ten to 12 months ago she was my legal ward. I put her through school, but she stopped going so I kicked her out of the house," White was quoted as saying.

"I put her on a train to Chiang Mai in March because she had been playing around and living in a place with three boys, one of whom, I presume, got her pregnant."

"Three times I took her to Mae Sai (her family's home, north of Chiang Mai), but she kept coming back."

Federal justice minister Chris Ellison confirmed earlier this week the AFP were investigating allegations the pornographic discs mailed to Australia featured footage of White and the girl. However, White said they were purchased in Bangkok.

"I bought those at Pantip Plaza. I was in the process of bringing that to the attention of the media and police, but didn't trust the Thais and the Australian police," he said.

"The Thai police, NGOs and the federal police, they have shot themselves in the foot. The physical evidence is not there to back these claims."
