rickfarang
Comment: This plan was announced a couple of years ago. Except last time it was so they could keep track of stray dogs and assure that they received proper medical attention. If we find out who is going to sell the chips, would that explain why this plan keeps resurfacing? ============================ (From The Nation online) BMA to require all dogs to be embedded with microchip Published on Oct 19 , 2005 The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) is planning to embed microchips in dogs across the city beginning early next year. The microchip-embedding requirement is a fundamental part of new draft regulations to control the city's dog population. The plan won approval from Bangkok councillors Wednesday. "The registration process, including the embedding of microchips, will take just half an hour," said BMA Health Department deputy director Prasarn Bamrungphan. The microchip will allow authorities to identify dog's owners, should they be abandoned or their pets attack people. Bangkok Governor Apirak Kosayodhin said it was thought there were more than 300,000 dogs in the capital.
khunsanuk
Hi, I doubt this will help much as the only people who will have this done to their dog are those who can afford it and who keep track of their dog. I.e. dogs that will not likely get lost and / or attack people. It will do nothing for the 1,000s of strary / semi-stray dogs that loiter on the streets. Sanuk!
