Old Hippie
I'll second Jerry Garcia. I also like Carlos Santana (went to the same high school as him ( Mission High, 15-20 years or so later... Jerry also went there, then got bounced to Balboa before dropping out...). Oh, Forgot to add Eric Clapton... Newer guys...I like Lenny Kravits.

Central Scrutinizer
Sayjann, Sorry, but I think both are piss poor "lead" guitarists. More like rythm guitarists trying to play lead solos. Neither are virtuoso guitarists. Hendrix, Santana, John McLaughlin, Yngwie Malmsteen, Steve Vai (my present favorite), Zappa, Joe Satriani, Fripp (from King Crimson), even Robin Trower, the guy from Deep Purple (Ritchie Blackmoor?), the guy from Sabbath (forget his name presently), hell, even David Gilmour, all light years ahead as "lead" guitarists than your two mentioned. What's his name from Yes, White? Or Led Zepp's Jimmy Page? Cent
