I even took one of them as my "escort" to a diplomatic reception at an embassy in Bangkok. She dressed appropriately and pulled off the role as my "assistant on a project in Thailand" without a hitch.

I am not sure if that was ballsy or stupid, but I am glad it worked out for you. I certainly would have never done that :o. But then again, this was an embassy function and it is the Thais who are best at figuring out another Thai's social status, not farangs, so maybe not so dangerous.

It was a bit daring, but she felt comfortable doing it and that was the main thing. It wasn't a high-powered formal event, more like a cocktail party. She had attended similar functions with a former significant other. She was always at my side and I could easily have run interference if needed. You are right, not many Thais there and the ones who were spoke politely to her. But this was a very special girl, I wouldn't have taken the average Nana angel to an embassy reception, primarily because it would have been unfair to her.

Cheers,

I went to Eden back in 2001 because an english guy I met gave me a card and said I needed to try it. I got there as they were opening with no idea what it was. Marc was very nice and helpful showing me the menu of events. When he clapped his hands all of a suddent the bar was full of ladies, I didn't count them but I'd guess well in excess of 20. Back then they all looked good to me so he helped pick one for me and made an outstanding choice. I enjoyed the experience very much altho left with the feeling I kinda wasted my money, because I never was into the fantasy role stuff and that was one place it could have happened. Still I recommend it to anyone to try out.

FYI - I didn't realize that the prices on his menu were X2 and didn't have enough money when it was done! Marc was really great, let me pay what I had then and come back, which I did about 15 minutes later.

All these different views make it hard for a newbie to decide wether it is worth it or not.

As a first timer, this is truely a fantastic opportunity. think about it....even if you dish out 4K Bhat for it, thats like $100 ($115 CND)..can you get the same for that here? lets see. i went to a stag last weekend and spent $300 on drinks and lap dances - and didn't get to tough anything! so that alone makes it a good, no, a very good proposition...

On the other hand, 4K Bhat is equal to 2 really good soapy's or 2 LT's right? but thats probably after you've broken your newbie status and can actually differentiate between 1.5 hrs at Eden vs 2 potential LT's

what is a newbie to do...what is a newbie to do?!?

It's not an "either/or" situation. Try everything in BKK that appeals to you. I posted about Eden Club to clear up some misconceptions and to offer some tips to maximize a first-time visit. But by all means, visit go gos, beer bars, MPs, etc., at least for a look. If a place doesn't appeal to you, just walk out.

Cheers,
