Concerts in LOS during Jan. or Feb.

I'll be in LOS for two months (January and February) and would like to attend a concert. A friend recommended three Thai singers, Siriporn, Nok Purnpana and Jintara, but I know nothing about them but I have liked the two concerts that I attended in Chiang Mai last year. Does anyone have any information about these three singers (or recommend someone else) and will they be in concert for the next three months?

It's too early to find out yet, but keep a look on Jins site www.jintarafanclub.com I think they are only on there until next week. I'll be phoning siriporn band at the end of next week so will post what I find out. You will have to call master tape to find out about Nok Pornpana. She's so cute, I saw her before her first album came out and she was the star of a big show at the thai cultural centre. Siriporns concerts are the best, she has some great supporting singers and the dancing routines make it a better night out than Jin concerts, unless like me you follow her especially. Nok Nois concerts are the biggest but the crowds are so great you can never get near the stage. If I hear anything I'll let you know. If you get a chance to see Job and Joy cancel anything else, they are something special (twins)

Nok Purnpana is cute. I'm in my late 50s but I still have the energy to follow her every concert and get my picture taken with her. I also like to collect dolls of her. She is heavenly.

Not Jintara though. Euugh.

I've had some fake UPI press credentials printed up on The Khao Sarn Road which gave me full access-- backstage and all! Great Ladies! Very fun to chat with, I mean a jolly good interview! I told them I was with 'The Sun' :)

You don't need any credentials fake or otherwise that I have ever noticed, what did she say in the interview? It's worth a try if you are ever asked for them I guess. I went out with a Nok Noi dancer who told me mai tai ulraiporn was a bad un, NN on trhe other hand is very nice to her girls. Some of them are underage and should not be working but thats were the fakes come in handy again. Some of these dancing girls work freelance or bars in the off season, I met my friend in thermae with twin dancing sister!!

Nok is purely a luktung singer and siriporn is almost these days, Jin sings only about 15% morlam if that. Morlam just does not bring in the sales with a few exceptions. Even Pornsak is singing luktung and he had a number one hit in August with mee mai dek, which just goes to prove it I think, his voice is hardly what it was back in the 80's.

Fon is a very good luktung/lukgrung singer but if yuo compare her recordings of classic songs on one her lastest CD's to previous versions by better singers the difference shows up. I would say she has a pretty voice but not a lot of depth or emotion to go with it. She sings chang rai lam luk on a CD of classics which came out this year and it's nowhere near the quality of when Sunaree or Gai Pannipa recorded it. Having said that some of her CD's are must have esp the Jai orn one which I doubt she will ever better. Another great recording is gluwa and some songs with Monsit Khomsoi, just get the feeling they have both gone off the boil a bit. Recent releases of her work from sure have been pretty cheap video productions, the chaing rai lam luk film makes you feel sea sick the camera moves about that much. She should move on to another label IMO.
