Thai Muslims Offended by Rap Song

A music distributor recalled two Thai rap CDs from stores Tuesday after Muslims complained the tracks insult their faith.

An article on the Thai-language Muslim Web site

It said the CDs contain verses from the Quran and "the Quran strictly forbids the use of its verses in songs."

The Council of Muslim Organizations of Thailand said rapper Joey Boy and songwriter Kamol Sukosol Clapp, also known as Suki, should not have used the Quranic verses.

The song, "Maya," was released in 1998 on a Joey Boy CD called "Bangkok Boy" and appeared again on the 2005 compilation "The Conclusive Collection."

Sony BMG Music Entertainment Thailand has recalled both CDs, and they will probably be destroyed, said Saharat Vanchompoo, the Sony marketing director.

Joey Boy and Clapp apologized at a news conference to "all Muslims" for producing the song.

"I did not intend to insult the Quran in any way," said Joey Boy, whose real name is Abhisit Opasiemlikit. "If I knew that there was an insulting sound or element in my song, Suki and I would not have created it."

The rapper, the songwriter, and Sony BMG's Saharat said they have requested a meeting as soon as possible with Thailand's top Muslim leader to formally apologize.

so after 7/8 Years they complain.

why not at the time?.

the Muslims have not bothered about things in the past, but now anything they now deem to be offensive is bought up.

and they seem to find offence in anything and the West appease them.

i see in the UK that a BRITISH Headmistress has banned her pupils from eating hot cross buns because it might be offensive to other Religions......... :banghead:

it's a cake for fuck's sake and as far as i know no other Religion has ever complained about it.

i wonder how many People from other Religions have ever eaten one and enjoyed it without thinking whwt the cross means.

this silly BITCH needs to get a fucking LIFE...........

i work with Christians,Bhuddists,Catholics and Muslims and a few Nights ago there was a free for all.

someone bought in hot cross buns and the fight to get one was fun.

my Muslim Friends loved them...........

Next thing you know she'll be banning bacon butties as offensive to Jews, Muslims etc. What about beef? Who gives a toss about the poor old Hindus? I think we should ban the good old sunday roast beef. There, then I've said it. Now who do I write to in order to suggest it?

i hate Roast Beef...........disgusting.

the only Beef i really like are the Satays you buy from the Roadside Vendors...........

barbecued for a Minute or so and so succulent.

but all this banning this and banning that and complaining about this and that pisses me off.

i get no lectures/complaints from People of certain Religions if i eat something which is offensive to them.........their attitude is live and let live.

and all this fuss about the cartoons puzzles me.

i imagine that the majority of the People demonstrating/burning Embassies/killing People have never even seen the bloody things.

and if they have i bet they searched the Internet to find them.

if you think it will be offensive they why look for them?.

i think shitting on People is disgusting and offensive,so what is my solution?.

i don't look for Pix or Films of it..........quite simple really.

and i wonder how many Muslims have ever heard this rap song?.

but i have to agree with Mentors...........that sort of Music is crap and i wouldn't bother listening to any of it.

I hate rap and hiphop, but I'll make an exception in this case. If it pisses off Muslims, it can't be all bad. They can suck my hard throbbing dick as far as I'm concerned.
