jack_schist
quick question. how difficult is it to find out the real identities of people behind websites and blogs. It would appear someone is using the name and image of a friend in order to run some dodgy thai based business ventures. i wish to put a stop to it one way or another. pe7e
If they have set out to cover their tracks it would be very dificult. Try doing a 'who is' search on the domain name first, that may be all you need do if they have been careless. If they are taking credit card payments online approach the 'payment service provider' ie WorldPay, NetBank, SecurePay, PayPal, ect ect.
Coss
Become a valued customer, they'll let you know what you want to know if you're giving them money. Cheers Coss
Lord Toad
The who is will tell youwho the hosting company is. You can contact them and ask (demand) that the site be shut down if it is using images they have no right to use, or are libelling your friend. There are other ways via ICAN (names registry) but depending upon where the hosting is based if you can prove what you say they should take the site down. Okay that might just mean it moves. But the 2nd time shoudl be easier
jack_schist
Thanks Lord Toad and pe7e. I found out more than i need to know. The registrant is indeed the partner/fiancee of my friend. maybe she is a willing participant in this scam. think i will leave them to it and mind my own business.
