fudgyMcPacker
On my last visit to Thailand I was on the road from Kanchanchaburi to Suphanburi and stopped to eat at a local roadside eatery. The rice there, unlike any that I had ever seen before in Thailand, had a purple tint to it. It also tasted real good. As they were seilling bags of uncooked rice I picked up a couple two kilo bags. From what I understand the rice is just less processed that the white stuff. On my next visit to Thailand I'd like to pick up many kilos more, which leads me to my question, can I buy this stuff in Bangkok? and if yes, where? and is it pretty common and I just never noticed? limbo
You can buy this rice all over Thailand. It's called kao maak and is fermented rice. One needs to buy the kao maak, after the rice is cooked, grind the kao maak and distribute it over the rice and leave for a night.
