USVirgin
I never stayed at Swiss Grottino, only toured the rooms. If your wife doesn't mind staying in a B&B type environment where, I think, she will surely know the trade is plied, then I guess she'll be comfortable. Otherwise, I'm with Ikkrang in thinking that the serviced apartment route is the way to go. It's more expensive, but at least the farang wife gets to experience the opulence of walking through a lobby (instead of a secret passage:) and seeing other expat families going about their daily lives. The boutique hotel ideas sound good too, and more within your suggested price range. Maybe again a B&B type crowd, just depends upon your lady's and your expectations. Just MHO, and much of it not based on experience.
