I just heard it reviewed on Radio 4's PM programme. The reviewers from Cannes Film Festival hadn't got a single good word to say about the film. Far more interesting was a piece about a piano being found in a cairn at the top of Ben Nevis.

Haven't read the book or seen the film and never will unless it's playing on an airplane I'm on someday, but as a general comment on the author's erudition, isn't referring to Leonardo da Vinci as "Da Vinci" like calling Catherine of Aragon "of Aragon"?

Anyway, I was surprised and almost touched that the Thai censors would for a minute consider editing a film on the grounds that it offended any religion other than Buddhism.

BTW, make a blockbuster film that offends Muslims, say, "The Satanic Verses" and see what happens in the wide world...
