I asked the same question last week when I was stranded in HKG with little money. From what I hear, Nathan Road in Kowloon is good for Sanuk on the cheap. $50usd for a quick hit. But I have not experienced it, so I don't know. I'm just going by what a few of the HKG natives at work are telling me. I did do the old call a few places out of the phone book routine, the prices were sky high! Aside from the Nathan road rumors, I hear Sanuk is generally very expensive there. When you find out, let me know.

Was in Hkg this last june and most nights were spent with my local office people there. I stayed in Kowloon ( nathan rd area ) I checked a few of the nicer hotel bars and found alot of freelancers working the bars , got approached by a cutie and bought her a drink (OJ) and chatted , she asked for US300.00 for all night , since she was cute , I just laughed and countered $200.00 , she took my offer quickly. My people in hkg advised me to expect to pay $150.00 to $250.00 MAX. Now i'm sure you could go to some of the more seedier parts of town and " up the stairs " for far less , but that scene is not for me. There is also a big F/L scene in Macau and worth the 1 hour boat over to see. They work the casinos and there is also some places where you can go into a room and the mamason will parade girl after girl , you get a 1 hour "interview" and 2 hours in a room , i think i paid about $200.00 total. There were 15 of us together in a large room "interviewing" a great night that was.

Shanghai is again mostly freelancers , it's been 3-4 years since my last trip. Suggest the Hard Rock Cafe , I remember the walls lined with wallflowers , I would guess $200.00 asking price. Another place call Casablanca was nice but the girls were very pushy for drinks. I would avoid it.

"...going up the stairs..." is exactly what I was thinking about in terms of cheap sanuk in HKG. I did hear the girls tend to be older and passed their prime a bit, but not really sure. The 150-200usd prices you mention, that is for "long time" all night?

Hit and miss on the LT/ST. I was told by more than a few people I met that alot of the F/L's actually have normal daytime jobs and work the scene for extra cash , I guess that would explain the hotel bars as a hangout. Mine turned out to be a LLLLT , she kinda moved in after the first night and stayed with me the next three days until I left HKG.

If you want Freelancers then go to Wan Chai, HK Island side and go to the following bars:

Big Apple,(this is if your desparate)

Strawberries (this is strictly 3am onwards)

Dusk Till Dawn

There are freelancers here and normal chicks who are out for some action....

All of these bars are on or within 100 metres of Lockhard and Luard Road.

There is also a girlie bar scene on Lockhard Road which dates back to the Suzie Wong era....Here you can get BJs but the lady drinks are expensive (220 or 330HKD per drink) and they will push the LDs hard...

I did the "up the stairs" thing (this was a couple of years ago so I don't know how prices, etc. have changed) and quite enjoyed it although I can see how it would not be for everyone. Apparently the girls roam around to the many different places in the area as opposed to having them all on premise. When you walk up they ask you what you would like. I should say that I speak no Chinese at all and the English in the place was limited (one of the reasons it probably is not for everyone). They first looked at me like I was lost but, when they figured out that I was in the right place, they got to business. As said before they ask what you would like. On my first visit I had no idea how the system worked and spoke/read no Chinese. I figured out later that the signs that I saw with the different prices were for different types of girls i.e Chinese, HK Chinese, Filipino, Malaysian, Thai, etc. I think it was even possible to get Japanese and EGHADS! caucasian women. So I figured out that I was to select which type and then said I would like a young, cute, small one just to make sure they didn't try to stick me with the dregs of what they had to offer(this was mostly with hand gestures and smiles). Here is where the roaming girl thing comes into play. After you tell them what you would like, a lady at the desk starts dialing phone numbers at lightning speed. They are paging the girls in the area that meet your specs. You are ushered into a tiny room with shower, bed, and porno TV to wait. Here is the other reason that some people don't like this--after a short wait, they will then bring a girl to the door. He asks "is she OK?" and you say yes or no. Supposedly you can refuse and they will resume the search with no problem but I know that some people feel awkward about that. I did also since the girl is standing right there in front of the both of you but, luckily, didn't get offered anything so hideous that I felt I had to refuse. After that it is down to business with a shower first and then some fun. When finished the girls that I had took another shower,dressed,and left without asking for a tip. I had heard that a tip is not expected. This was always ST and I never asked if they were available for longer (not possible due to who I was staying with). I assume that there was a time limit but it wasn't spelled out to me and I don't recall being hassled about it. As far as the quality, although I wouldn't call them stunners in the sense of a Patpong go-go girl, I never ended up with an ugly old fat woman and certainly none that were past their prime. They were usually 19-20, plain to cute, dressed in jeans/casual/unslutty clothes, never overweight or out of shape (never saw any stretch marks!) and ranged from not necessarily enthusiastic but plenty accomodating to very warm and friendly. The nicest one happened to speak some English which perhaps made a difference in her being more comfortable. I got the feeling that maybe they didn't get too many white guys in there although I could be wrong about that. I was always the only one that I saw. The prices at that time ranged from around $30us (starting with the lowest Asian group listed) to over $100us (for the white and Japanese girls). I can't remember the exact order of the pricing but it seems like it was Malaysian or Filipino being the cheapest and then Thai, mainland Chinese, Hong Kong Chinese, up to Japanese and white girls who I think may have been Russian or Eastern European.

If you can deal with not being able to see the entire selection this is an OK way to go and certainly a more affordable option than the clubs in Wan Chai. Sorry this reply is so late after the original post. I just saw it today for the first time.
