Steve Posted September 11, 2006 Report Share Posted September 11, 2006 I was walking around this market in south LA last saturday (called a swap meet locally) and I saw some girls approach a guy every so often as he was walking around, who I found out was Brian Pumper, porn star. What amazed me was that these girls recognized him. Why? They were 17, 18 or 19 y.o. by the look of them! Some were in their early 20s but most looked a bit young. What's more amazing is they were asking him how they could get into the business! BP, gave them business cards and put their info in his PDA with a casualness that suggested he gets these requests all the time. The guy was greeted no worse than any B or C list celeb if he had shown up there. These were run of the mill girls who you'd think were worried more about their algebra grades than starring in porno movies! I overheard asking a few when they turned 18 (yeah, I sauntered over and acted like the blue jeans for sale in the stall was something I wanted so I could over hear without seeming like I was trying to hear ; ). Steve Posted September 11, 2006 Author Report Share Posted September 11, 2006 This one of those, friends, neighbor's brother stories, but a former coworker of mine from a previous job became a song writer and his writing partner did the sound and background music for adult companies. He had said that the women make big money (at least by my standards). Anywhere from 3k to 5k a movie and its based on each scene and what act they'll do. You get a bonus for anal (works like that in LOS as well...hehehe). Guys don't get much. Anyway, the women have agencies they work for and when they are new and a fresh face, they may do a movie a week for the first month or two. It takes about several weeks from the date of production to the release so sometimes a 'new' face has already done 5, 6 or 7 movies by the time her first flick comes out and in that time she could have made 20k or 30k. Vivid and other top companies pay for exclusivity as well. All in all, 6 figures is not uncommon for some of the women. They also supplement their income with their own websites selling and endorsing products, appearances at strip clubs as well. Here in LA, strip clubs regularly adverstise that such and such will be making an appearance. I was amazed at the normal, every day girls though. They were dressed like any other girl and you wouldn't have had a clue that they were intersted in doing porn. I'm also thinking, viagra must have changed the industry dramatically as well. I would imagine a clean bill of health would be mandatory for all starters and regular check ups the norm. I'm not a big fan of porn and haven't seen a genuine blue movie for years (I don't count the Chinese ones my ex-girlfriend and her mates used to watch in Laos, they would fall into the category of comedy) but I seem to recall the male participants wearing condoms and taking them off for the non contact finale.
