eee
Do most of you after meeting the requirement of 800,000 bht in the bank for retirement visas, transfer funds back to farangland bank in the homeland? You don't have to keep it in Thai bank for ever right? Just show that you have that much(800,000bht) or enough income to cover that amount per year? thalenoi
I don't show 800k in bank, but around 500K and have letter from embassy stating my pension is 800k+ My bankbook also shows I do spend some money to live on, and refill that account when needed. Next visa renewal is late november...
Flashermac
Several friends have just renewed theirs. One had no problem, since he keeps most of the 800 k in a Thai account and tops it up when needed. It is an active account seeing frequent use. But another topped his up by 700,000 baht -- and they told him not to do that again.
cavanami
Several have told me they keep all the $$$ in a USA account, not in a Thai account. They get a letter from the US Embassy, stating that they do have the funds and they get the Thai retirement visa. With the low value of the USD, I see it as much better to keep the $$$ in a USA account.
