Flashermac
Nobody can sing the Star Speckled Bananer. Lots of folks would like to change it to 'America the Beautiful'. But the right wing won't allow that. It actually only became the nat anthem officially during FDR's reign.
Guest
Again old news, Leo Strauss and his fucked up thinking has been effecting Republican regimes since Reagan... Nice to see some free thinking by students however....oh that there was more of it...
OCgringo
OC....the community "junior" college is in Orange county which was the center of right wing thinging with Ronald Regan , How look what those Leftys are doing ! It just seems stupid for this to even come up , it plays right into the wacho crowd , Hey I love my country , but this Pledge is not what makes the country , nor does the flag make a country, Rush and friends love to yell "Fire" in a theater OC
Hugh_Hoy
... open admission to any high school graduate. Actually, you don't even have to be a high school grad...just be 18 years old (or older). Quite a number of local high school kids take community college classes in the evening or summer school. "Double dip" as it were: satisfy H.S. requirements AND college Gen. Ed. requirements with one class (ie., U.S. History). HH (mak)
Flashermac
I'd never thought of that. Of course, I was 17 when I finished high school, so I couldn't have anyway.
