FreeTime
As all of you know crossing Asoke Rd. at the Asoke BTS is a bit of a challenge at any time, day or night. If you happen to have a bit of a snootful going to or after visiting S.C. it can become dangerous. I may be one of the last to realize this, but this aboveground crossing can be avoided. Simply continue the elevator ride down from Asoke BTS into the MRT underground and walk straight across under Asoke Rd. and up the elevator to Sukhumvit MRT aboveground. Faster & safer. Unsure whether access closes at midnight though.

Bangkoktraveler
The underground walk is nice especially when it is hot outside.

pasathai1
FreeTime, did you ever tried to cross a street in Saigon? easy, just start walking and don't hesitate. it all "melds" around you
Khun004
. That's an excellent suggestion from FreeTime. Asoke intersection is a battle zone. Going underground makes the crossing safe and bearable. Escalators at both ends make it easy.
YimSiam
FreeTime' date='did you ever tried to cross a street in Saigon? [/quote'] easy, just start walking and don't hesitate. it all "melds" around you Exactly - it's amazing, one of the wonders (okay, smaller wonders) of the world to do a Saigon street crossing in real time. No sudden moves, steady speed - it's like living the Matrix when it goes exactly right... Motorcycles and bicycles floating magically past without contact... Now if only I could get the rest of my life to work like that. Also, for those of you who have been having a difficult time with Sukhumvit traffic and those pesky wires under the Skytrain, another suggestion: try the pedestrian bridges! (Sorry FreeTime... Couldn't help it) They're not just for beggars anymore... YimSiam YimSiam
pasathai1
Now if only I could get the rest of my life to work like that. sometimes it works like that ( when you hit the exact ratio of tequilla to reality)
