Nervous_Dog
I remember back in the late 90's after the crash of 97 Thai always parked on the tarmac, they paid less! then as things got better they gradually moved to gates. Evel_Penivel
I believe he means the Asian financial crash. I have used the new airport four times (two international flights in, two out) since the end of October. No problem with any of the flights. First flight I de-planed at 23.43 hr BKK time, cleared Immigration at 23.57 hrs (only a few people ahead of me), got my luggage back at 00.10 hrs and was in a cab on the way to the city at about 00.35 hr. Second flight was about same same, except a few more people in the immigration queue. Arrived and departed each time from a gate, no buses. It was a long walk between the gate and immigration control, but no significant problems. Evel

samak
the financial crash in Surat Thani? never heard of that! it was a domestic TG flight which crashed close to the airport with some survivors! and there was not even ever a financial crash in Thailand! this was the IMF crisis!
