Dems in power. What's the difference in a totalitarian state?

So, having been swept to victory on a wave of public opposition to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, what are the Democrats going to do about it?

NOTHING! The day Bush Snr and Co. topped JFK was the day the military industrial complex came to power in the US.

Have a look at part of CNN's Jack Cafferty's transcript below:

[color:green]Jack Cafferty: "Well, another day, another outrage. President Bush is now claiming that he can open our mail without a warrant. Weâ??ll have more on that in the next hour. Next week, heâ??s expected to announce an escalation of the war in Iraq. Tens of thousands of additional U.S. troops being sent into harms way. The administration says it needs another $170 billion this fiscal year to continue to fund the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. But the Democrats are focused on raising the minimum wage. Thatâ??s fine, I guess. Theyâ??ve already said they wonâ??t impeach President Bush. Theyâ??ve already said they wonâ??t cut funding for the war. And several Democrats are hedging on the issue of independent ethics oversight of Congress. Gee, we donâ??t need that, do you? Senator Barack Obama suggests, in an op-ed piece in the â??Washington Postâ?? today, and heâ??s absolutely right, that if you donâ??t have someone to enforce ethics reform, enforce it, nothing is going to change. The voters want something meaningful done. Itâ??s one thing to talk the talk leading up to the elections, but now that theyâ??ve won, itâ??s time for the Democrats to walk the walk. And thereâ??s some early signs they might be coming down with leg cramps. This countryâ??s being ripped apart by an ill advised war thatâ??s failing and an executive branch thatâ??s run amuck. If the Democratic Party refuses to confront this administration in a meaningful way on the issues that are threatening the very survival of our nation, then theyâ??re no better than the people committing these crimes. So hereâ??s the question: â??How much faith do you have that the Democrats can stop the war and rein in President Bush?â??[/color]

You really have your head up your posterior, don't you. The military industrial complex was running things just as much under St Jack of Hyannisport as nowadays.

Good. Now you are qualified to run for president of the USA.

:)

p.s. JFK is the prez who came closest to getting us all nuked out of existence, with his Cuban Blockade. I remember going to school and looking at the sky, wondering if the nukes were already on their way. Thank God (or Marx) that Khrushie blinked first!

<< The Cuban Missile Crisis is often regarded as the moment when the Cold War came closest to escalating into a nuclear war. Russians refer to the event as the "Caribbean Crisis," while Cubans refer to it as the "October Crisis." >>

p.s. I'd never heard of Operation Ortsac before I read this!

Too many vested interests in the US...whilst there are supposed to be 2 parties, there isn't really...it's just a changing of the guard...but they all come from the same barracks...load of bollox...

I can't believe they wont impeach..the republicans were merciless over their pursuit of Clinton...and he played around with some ugly intern...Bush is directly responsible for hideous lies, enormous waste and corruption and the deaths of thousands...and they let him off...! This is scandalous!
