junglesoup
When in Thailand, I really love this dish, made from baby mango, and deep fried catfish. Now I want to make this at home in the UK. I can get all the things I need apart from the catfish. Can anyone suggest an alternative to catfish that I could use which is nearly the same, but easy to get in the UK. And if anyone knows the technique to make thuis well, let me know, thanks. I thought maybe cod fish might do but I m not sure.
limbo
In theory you can substitute the Plaa Dook with about anything, I've had this dish with other variations, but prefer the Plaa Dook. Don't your local 'Asian' shops not carry deep frozen catfish?
elef
Limbo, almost all fish we can find in asian shops in Europe is coming from Africa, so if there's catfish outside Africa...
junglesoup
My carbon foot print won't be too good buying this stuff from the asian supermarket. Oh well, it tastes good
shygye
White fish should work. You just want a mild, non-oily fish.
