expat
My wife is working quite far away now and needs transport. I already have a pickup, but it looks like we'll need to add a second vehicle. She is a new driver, so the only basic requirement is an automatic transmission. Other considerations: 1. Low purchase price 2. Low operating costs, both fuel and repair 3. Good resale value if we go abroad in a few years 4. Reliability 5. Most likely will get a used vehicle to save on cost, though that is not 100% set in stone. I'm just getting started in the hunt, so any experiences, websites, other information sources, other things I should consider and advice is welcome. Thanks in advance, expat

pe7e
Here's one bit of advice that's appropriate anywhere in the world and not only for used cars, but new cars as well. When you've made your choice, and before finalising the deal, take along an experienced mechanic/technician to give it a look over/under. If the vendor is reluctant to let you, or unwilling to cooperate with facilities etc, walk away from the deal. Remember a good used vehicle is no more expensive to buy than a superficially good vehicle, but it's hugely cheaper to keep

Bangkoktraveler, Was just about to ask on another forum where the "repo auctions" are in Bangkok. Do you have any firsthand information, have you been? Thanks - Orangutan
