Nervous_Dog
I haven't been there for a few years but I really liked Savanaket. My hotel had a list of things not to do, among them was "Women bleed on bed you buy new sheet" Seemed a common problem and fair enough

Topcatta
Penang is not really Malaysia. Goergetown is a lot of fun. There is some rainforest (whats left) and lots of health centers to ease down the always putting their heads up Cobra's...More of a mix between cultures Malay Chinese and Indians. Little India is very nice and the food excellent. Go to the Woodlands or the Meena for superbs masala dosa=s and uttapams! Just walk the streets and the old Chinese buildings and heritage are beautiful. The area of Chulia Street and Lebuh Penang is full of disco's and bars. But you cant swim in the sea. Waaayyy too many yellyfish. In Lebuh Chulia they arrange the visa for you. cheap. Go and have a Malay blind massage (no sex, muslim) opposite the Komtar, off Penang Road. DONT get the women to do it. Get the men to do it and you will feel fully energized. Komtar and building next door is good for shopping. Lots of vegetarian CHinese. The one opposite the police station is good but closes at 16.00 hrs, although if I remember right they changed that. Best is to come at 12.00. Loads of dishes to choose from. The fancy expensive Indian restaurants around Penang street are not that good. Better go to Little India. Authentic Indian food. Lots of Thai hookers now too and for the lady boys. There are some real full female body lookers also some real sleazy rundown ones.
