Bkkbound04
I'm looking to purchase a used car, something around 5yrs old, the sort of thing I'd pay a couple of thousand in UK for. Anybody had experience of buying in BKK? recommend a dealer or mag/website? Its for the gf who has dreams of a nice Toyota Yaris or Honda Jazz, she's got a licence but I would'nt trust her on a lawn mower! I cannot let her loose on the roads with a new car for a while. Nervous_Dog
Read my thread on my volvo, I got a cheap deal, like all cheap deals I've had to pay t get things fixed, now it's sweet, 10 year old S40, 300 000 baht, spent 10K on new wheels and about 40K on service and repairs work
Bangkoktraveler
You can always try the banks in regards to their reposessions. Some of those cars are excellent deals. Actually, several dealers buy their cars there and then jack the price up and sell it to the public. You could cut out some of the middle man. cavanami
I have heard that there is also a requirement that you need "permission" from the Thai gov to buy a car. Seems you can go to the Thai immigration and get this "permit" in about two weeks, at no cost.
Nervous_Dog
You need to show your work permit when doing the transfer, no need to get anything from immigration - but thats a few months old!
