Good news. wife passed exams on first try. Couple of months break and one more term to go. :D She will be the second person in her immediate family (or maybe even fully extended) to finish "high school". Nephew finished a while back is now in tech school upcountry after trying out the factory life in Rayong for a while.

Years ago I taught a former monk in his last two years of university. In fact, they were his only unie years! He had started pratom 1, but the Nipponese gents arrived to "liberate" Thailand from the Brits (so they claimed). All schools were closed for the duration of the war.

The fella had become a monk when he was old enough and studied diligently at monastic schools. He left the monkhood when he was in his late 20s and decided to take the equivalency exams. He passed first lower primary, then upper primary, all levels of secondary and finally the equivalent of the first two years of university! After teaching for a time, he decided to try for a BEd and finished it at around age 38.

Just shows you what can be done, if one wants to. This guy had a total of only 3 years in govmt schools/university, but got his degree nonetheless.
