Never ever got stopped at customs on planet 7, always carry a rucksack full of fresh fruit bought lasts hours before heading to Dong Muang. No way I would buy the packaged/sterilised/expensive stuff at the airport.

Pity oz, us & can do not allow fresh products in. Is there a real treath? Sounds BS to me

(Sorry in advance that I'm listing prices in USD as I don't deal in baht daily!)

What to bring back? Easy!

Software! Lots of Software! smile.gif" border="0

I'd pass on the VCD's of current movies. Most of the ones I got were either not in English, or it was recorded by a guy with a hand camera in a theater! Porn VCD's were of much higher quality, however in the stack I got all the umm... penetration shots were digitally altered so you couldn't see *exactly* what was going on. (I think all the movies I got were of Japanese origin, as a friend back here wanted them.)

VCD/MP3 players can be had cheap there as well. Picked up a really nice looking one for like $40 last year (Panthip plaza). Make sure that if your coming from the States that the unit is switchable 110/220 and also switchable from PAL to NTSC. The only complaint I have is that operating the unit is anything but user friendly!

Among other stuff I brought back:

1) Really nice suitcase from a shop near Nana hotel. Probably the equivalent of $100 to $200 here and I paid $50 for it! (Plus I needed it to carry all my extra stuff back!)

2) 1 complete 3 piece suit, 1 tuxedo jacket, and 1 sport coat all for $400 (highest quality silks and wool).

3) Couple of those huge paper and wood fans with different 'village on the river' scenes painted on them. They're cheap and make great gifts back home! You need a big suitcase to carry them back however...

4) Miscellaneous gifts for friends that I picked up at Patpong/Sukhumvit night markets. (Ummm.. the gifts I picked up not the friends!)

5) Every article of clothing I could get from night market vendors who claimed: "I have your size!" (Not easy to do in Thailand!)

6) Cheap ties that fell apart the second time I wore them from out in front of a tailor shop in Pattaya. (Keep away from ties that sell for 3 for 100baht! Same with socks!)

7) 2 cheap fake Rolexes. 1 physically BROKE 10 minutes after I bought it. The other never keeps good time! (I'll look for the slightly higher quality fakes next time 'round!)

Stuff I regretted not buying, but will buy next trip:

1) Some of those triangle pillows! (I think I'll ship them instead of trying to pack them.)

2) Whatever the name of that game is that bargirls play with the box with the numbered levers and 2 dice. (I'm sure you know what I'm talking about!)

3) Scale model of Tuk-Tuk !

4) Even more software! smile.gif" border="0 Probably end up shipping most of software as well, just in case!

Well that's my 2 baht!

After getting an upgrade on the gold chain and maybe a new Buddha amulet, the other most precious item in LOS are CD's. Lots and lots of Thai CD's are my main purchases. Thai music is endlessly enjoyable.Cheap too , from 100-190 baht, and not much more for VCD's-peter
