Bangkoktraveler
I believe even in the USA if a political party is found guilty of commiting 'crimes', then the government has the right to dissolve the party. I think the issue is not what is best for democracy but if a law exist, and it is a good law, then it should be enforced. In this case, the Thais did what some say was the uncomprehensible and that is they enforced the law. From what I have been hearing lately, there is less and less 'tea money' being spread around which means probably less corruption.
Flashermac
I don't think the dissolution of the party is the problem. It is the 5 year ban on the politicians. Is there a law that gives the court such authority? It seems they are following a proclamation by the coup leaders. Stage a coup and then you can make the rules to suit what you want? Any legal beagles on the board?
