Frankly, what I really enjoy most is the Thai chitchat experience -- anywhere specific recommended where I might be able to relax over drinks with some Thai freelancers, maybe take one home at the end of the evening? I know it's not far to Thailand, and maybe I shouldn't be spending my time (and money) on the LOS experience outside of LOS, but would be happy to have some recommendations... YimSiam Posted October 20, 2007 Report Share Posted October 20, 2007 Alright then, I've done a bit of my own research now -- as noted above, there are quite a few Thai freelancers around Wanchai, the easiest places to find them seem to be Neptune Disco and the Bridge Bar (the late-late-night place for almost-last-chance pickups). Quality varies from Thermae rejects to the very occasional stunner, but these are not Thailand's finest by any means. They are generally in town for about a month, and can usually cross to China for at least one additional month back in HK. The short timeframe and high prices (I don't know enough to share specifics, however US120 ST and US180 or more LT seem popular quotes) encourages them to be a bit mercenary, and get as much work as they can while they're here without wasting time. The Filipinas hustle harder as well (and have nothing against stealing someone's potential customer), so there's tough competition. Nonetheless, they are still Thai girls, given the chance to show it -- the one who came home with me this morning just left at 11 pm after a very nice (though utterly wasted) day of bed-based activities, shower drills, TV, dried cuttle fish snacks, Siriporn, etc - the whole nine yards, I could've been in Bangkok but for the lack of Thai TV... My overall impression is that the sanuk factor while out meeting the girls is much lower than in Thailand, quality lower, and prices higher -- it seems a nice option if you're desperate for a taste of the old Thai life every now and then, but otherwise I don't see myself spending much time in the Thai/Flip/Indo Wanchai scene while here. You can get an unrushed hour with a very nice mainland Chinese 18-20 year old for ~HK$350 (or US$45). Just look for arrows made of fluorescent tubes, like this: ||||||>. There'll be a list (in Chinese) on the door, listing nationalities and prices.
