Steve
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070619/ap_on_re_us/duke_lacrosse He should be disbarred not to serve again. What is sad and criminal is that he tried to incite racial tensions as well as gender tensions. Women and others on campus were hurling insults at the players without the true facts coming out. And now that they have they are still a prior. If women are honest they are also upset that the guys had a stripper over at the house. The girl went willingly got paid and didn't even carry out the agreement for time spent. Women like to judge us men who may see a stripper as those that are victimizing women when we all know its usually the stripper that gets the better of the bargain. Being paid and not having to have sex. What a racket. Plus the underlying racial issues for some blacks that white guys would hire a black women and ogle at her. Especially in the south with the history of plantation sex a few hundred years ago and even during Jim Crow. The sad fact is the players will be forever tarnished for something they didn't do. Its sad and it tarnishes actual cases of racial and sex bias.
Bangkoktraveler
Don't forget, the players had/have a stiff legal bill to pay. I have heard it is over a million for each player. I am glad it ended out this way. It lets other DAs know they are not god and they are not above the law.
Flashermac
Look at the guy who went after Michael Jackson. How much taxpayer money did he waste? Almost certainly Jacko the Wacko is guilty, but the guy just didn't have the evidence to prove it. But he still went to court anyway. The NC guy was even worse. Looking to make a name maybe? TheCorinthian
The NC guy was even worse. Looking to make a name maybe? Yep. He had it in mind that he could be elected govoner of the state if he won a high profile case.

spirit_of_town_hall
From what I read about the case the DA defintitely deserved to go. People are contrasting the Duke case with http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Channon_Christian_and_Christopher_Newsom_murder and saying there is reporting bias. Apparently the girl in the above case was kept alive for days and suffered numerous rapes before having cleaning fluid poured down her throat. She was then stuffed in a bin. The people at fault here are the media, the sad thing is the media is never really held accountable, they just move on to the next storey like Paris Hilton etc etc The media have to be and appear to be balanced or people will just seek other outlets. Bangkoktraveler
I don't think the media should take most of the blame for this one. The prosecutor was definitely out of line. He should not have held back evidence nor distorted the evidence. He got what he deserved. The only sad part of this is there are a lot more DAs out there who are just as bad. Steve
Big city DAs are judged on conviction rates so they will oftentimes prosecute an innocent person because the circumstantial evidence can get a jury to give a guilty plea. That happens alot in the inner city with defendents who are poor and have a swamped public defender who tells him that he'll lose the jury trial and to take a plea for a lesser charge and lesser years. Many cases of that.
