Neon Ninja
Howdy, I've been to Pattaya like 4 times over the last few years, and I have yet to find a hotel that I am 100% satisfied with. So far, I've stayed at: 1) The Penthouse - Bit too grotty for my tastes. 2) The Diamond Beach - Too Noisy! Horrible food! 3) Residence Garden - Nice place, but far away. So I'm looking into the Lido Beach hotel this go around. This is the hotel that is set back off beach road near walking street down the small Soi between McDonald's and Starbucks. Directly accross from the old fishing pier, I believe. Here's the URL: http://lidobeachpattaya.com/ (Hope it is OK to post the URL here, I've forgotten what the policy is as I haven't been here in a while...) Anyhow, if someone who has stayed here let me know how the food, rooms, guest policy, noise levels, etc is I would be most appreciative! Thanks for any info! -=/NN
STFORME
Pretty much a hole. No lift. Only has location going for it. Much prefer Sandy Springs on Soi 13. Bring some stone crabs (jumbo, please)with you and the first 2 nites are on me.
torrenova
If you want to stay that near (and I would not), then a much better place is the De la Mer http://www.hoteldelamer.net/ You can get a discount if you stay more than a week. Just up a few metres from the entrance to Walking Street. As I suspect you already know, the best hotels are away from Walking Street. The residence garden is one you mentioned which I do not consider too far away really. It has a lot more "on its doorstep" these days.
Neon Ninja
Pretty much a hole. No lift. Nuff said, I am a fat bastard and not having an elevator is pretty much a deal killer for me.... Thanks for the info! -=/NN

Yeah, last time I was at Residence Garden was like 2002 I think. (I got the FLB special rate). Too far to walk, and I dislike dealing with the Baht bus drivers. (I always get screwed over somehow...). Actually, I don't care much how far I am from Walking Street, I just enjoy eating my breakfast at that Tip's place. I'll checkout De La Mer and that Sandy Springs place (The latter looks real promising after seeing those videos someone linked to...) (ooops... the videos were linked on Pattaya Pages site, not here sorry...) Thanks for the info! -=/NN
Old Hippie
I actually liked this place...some rooms are better than others. Down side is no lift and no pool...last time, I stayed at Flipper lodge, very nice. Time before that, I stayed at or Sunshine...also nice!
