Bankok metropolitan administration (BMA) will establish a fund for the project to turn Bangkok into a paradise.

The fund will be used most efficiently to tackle problems such as:

Garbage, pollution, traffic, and drugs BMA spokesman Chanin Rugsaeng said.

He said the fund would also be used to provide recreational activities, sports and education in the capital.

"We plan to complete the project within four years" he said adding that the project to turn Bangkok into a paradise city was in line with HM the king Bhumibol Adulyadej's initative.

Well this all sounds very good for the capital :p

When he gets that lot sorted, maybe we can get him tackling global warming and the eternal favourite, World Peace ..... :smirk:

Seriously, 'solve' even one of those in a city like BKK and the world will beat a path to your door. Unless you have a govt like the Chinese, you cant just say 'we are going to tell 1 million drivers to stay home for a week !'. Sort traffic (!) in a BKK, Jakarta or Mexico City and you'd have a lot of the pollution sorted, but I cant see it happening in my lifetime. Bring on the post-apocalyptic 'bronze age'

They're about 30 years too late on this. In the 1970s the city had no traffic jams, the air was clean, the klongs were not polluted (and filled with fish), plus the streets were lined with trees. The population was also only a bit over 2 million!

Maybe they plan to knock down 2/3rds of the city, ban cars, send the proles back to Isaan etc. That's about what it would take!

:p
